A New Platform Chapter for Ecopha
Ecopha Biotech Pty Ltd has announced the international filing of a new Patent Cooperation Treaty application covering its integrated biorefinery technology for the co-production of renewable oleochemical products and biodegradable PHA bioplastics from Pongamia oil.
The announcement also marks the launch of Ecopha’s Integrated Sustainable Carbon Platform, representing the company’s evolution from a pioneer in biodegradable PHA bioplastics into a broader sustainable carbon technology platform.
Transforming Sustainable Carbon into Multiple Products
Rather than focusing on a single product or feedstock, Ecopha is developing an integrated platform designed to transform sustainable carbon into multiple high-value outputs through one scalable biorefinery system.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Renewable fuel pathways designed to support aviation decarbonisation and future low-carbon transport systems.
PHA Bioplastics
Marine and soil biodegradable PHA materials designed to support sustainable packaging and circular material systems.
Renewable Chemicals
Renewable oleochemicals, bio-based specialty chemicals and future circular carbon products for industrial applications.
Beyond One Feedstock
Although the patented process was developed using Pongamia oil as an ideal non-food feedstock, Ecopha’s Integrated Sustainable Carbon Platform is designed to utilise a wider range of sustainable carbon sources.
Statement from Dr Wilson Ling
“Ecopha is transforming sustainable carbon into sustainable fuels, biodegradable materials and renewable chemicals through one integrated platform to accelerate the global circular bioeconomy.”
Why This Matters
Global demand for renewable fuels, sustainable materials and low-carbon chemicals continues to increase as governments and industries pursue net-zero emissions, energy security and circular economy goals.
Ecopha’s platform is positioned to support the next generation of industrial manufacturing by helping renewable carbon replace fossil carbon across fuels, materials and chemical sectors.
